If you’re a talented high school student seeking hands-on experience with business education, please explore our high school programs and find a program that fits you! Keep in mind some of the programs are in conjunction with area high schools and are offered only once a year.

Please note: This is a 3-year program commitment. Students who register for the Business Institute Program are expected to complete it. Upon successful completion of the program, students will be awarded a Certificate of Completion.

This inaugural cohort will be introduced to a top-notch undergraduate business education and have the opportunity to hone their leadership, teamwork, and communication skills. Students will participate in workshops to strengthen their ability to articulate their value; learn the basics of running and managing a corporation; submit business proposals; and pitch their business ideas to mentors, faculty, and judges in an attempt to win an award.

Students at the case competition

Prince George’s High School Case Competition

Each year, the Smith undergraduate program partners with the Omega Theta chapter of Alpha Kappa Psi business fraternity to sponsor a case competition compromised of students from our local Prince George’s County high schools. This is an invitation-only event, and we look forward to hosting more talented students in Spring 2022.

Summer Programs

Smith's summer business programs are living-learning, immersive experiences aimed to enhance students’ understanding of business, create global awareness on pertinent topics and develop leadership skills.

Snider Enterprise and Leadership Fellows (SELF)

Learn about leadership, teamwork, innovation and entrepreneurship at SELF, a summer pre-college course for high school students.

Learn More: SELF Program

SELF is founded and presented by the Ed Snider Center for Enterprise and Markets in collaboration with award-winning faculty from the Robert H. Smith School of Business and Terp Young Scholars.

My favorite part about SELF was being able to experience what college life is like for a UMD student
