This fall semester, the Center for Global Business welcomed 21 incoming exchange students to the Robert H. Smith School of Business, providing them with invaluable study abroad opportunities.

The Center for Global Business offers a full slate of experiential opportunities for Smith School students in all programs, focused on various areas of global business.

Addressing tomorrow’s grand business challenges begins with preparation in the classroom today. And that’s what students at the University of Maryland’s Robert H. Smith School of Business have been doing through the Smith Business Leadership Fellows Program.

N5 Sensors, a leading Maryland-based company specializing in environmental hazard detection, worked with a team of six graduate students from the University of Maryland’s Robert H. Smith School of Business this past spring to tackle the challenge of expanding its wildfire and air quality monitoring solutions into European markets.

For the second time, a team from the Robert H. Smith School of Business won the 2023 NASBITE International Graduate Student Case Competition. Steve Baker, President and CEO of this year’s case company, Procedural Technologies, thought the team of Tamekia Graham, Melissa Simpson, Keshav Gupta, and Shiv Jethi, presented the best analysis.

“National Small Business Week celebrates the resilience, innovation, and economic contributions of the country’s small businesses and startups,” says Rebecca Bellinger, CGB’s executive director. “While this is a week dedicated specifically to these small enterprises, we at the center recognize the vital role that SMEs play in Maryland's economy every day.”

The Center for Global Business (CGB) at Maryland Smith hosted Careers Crossing Borders: A Dinner Networking Conversation. The event was the first of a two-part opportunity for students to explore and navigate career paths in international business, gain perspective from professionals about their career experiences and leverage their global mindset in their career exploration.

This spring, the Center for Global Business welcomed 35 incoming exchange students to the Robert H. Smith School of Business, while 24 Smith undergraduate students have been settling into business schools abroad. The Center for Global Business has over 20 exchange programs with business schools worldwide.
