In the classroom, faculty members at the University of Maryland’s Robert H. Smith School of Business impart knowledge to the next generation of business leaders. Out of the classroom, they are shaping the world with their research.
Recently, 21 Smith School professors were recognized among the top 2% of the most-cited scholars and scientists worldwide, according to a study published by Elsevier in 2025. The study analyzed data across 22 scientific fields and 174 subfields, ranking researchers by how frequently their work is cited by others. It produced two separate lists—one measuring career-long impact and another reflecting single-year impact for 2024.
