COLLEGE PARK, Md. (March 26, 2015) — Working professionals with an interest in the Washington, D.C., region have a new source for bite-sized business insights, delivered weekly to their inboxes from the University of Maryland’s Robert H. Smith School of Business.
Smith Brain Trust, published every Thursday, will provide commentary on the latest mergers, marketing campaigns, policy debates, investment news and business research — drawing upon the broad knowledge of the school’s faculty.
“No one can be an expert on everything,” says Gary Cohen, assistant dean in Smith’s Office of Executive Programs. “But collectively, our professors stay plugged in to virtually every topic. With this newsletter, you can have access to the same faculty who help our corporate clients navigate the complexities of global business.”
Besides their academic acumen, Smith professors have real-world experience as consultants and business leaders with several top companies. “They have worked on Wall Street, Main Street and in government offices from the White House to the SEC,” Cohen says. “They have specialized knowledge in nearly every industry, from energy to entertainment.”
The professors also speak more than a dozen languages and have global networks that span six continents. They attend key events and read the latest books, newspapers and journals. “Often they are the ones delivering the keynote addresses and writing the articles that others talk about,” Cohen says.
