Maryland Smith welcomed 85 new students into its Flex MBA and Online MBA programs this January. The new students spent a weekend participating in Smith’s opening residency program, Jan. 14-15, at Van Munching Hall in College Park, Md.

The Smith School’s MBA programs are now STEM-designated, recognizing the analytical, data-informed nature of the curriculum. The STEM designation acknowledges the value of the degree for those seeking to work in business analytics and technology-driven enterprise.

Smith’s OMBA was listed as No. 6 in the United States in 2021. The highly acclaimed program also places among the top 10 in rankings from U.S. News & World Report and the Financial Times. Meanwhile, Maryland Smith’s flagship Full-Time MBA program ranked as No. 26 in the country in 2021, according to Fortune Education.

New Maryland Smith graduates Jose DeJesus and Yenny Andrade Castillo are among Poets & Quants “ Best and Brightest Online MBAs: Class of 2021 .” Criteria for this recognition include strong academic performance, critical and consistent contributions to the program, striking personal narratives, and innate potential, according to the news site devoted to the global coverage of business schools. Both selectees credited their Maryland Smith experience for career gains.

Maryland Smith continues to be named among the best top-tier online MBA programs, as ranked by the U.S. News and World Report’s Best Online MBA Programs for 2021, holding the No. 10 spot for the second consecutive year. The 2021 ranking is based on a range of metrics in five measured categories: student engagement, admissions selectivity, peer reputation, faculty credentials and training, and student services and technology.
