Smith Undergrad Staff Spotlight

Recently, Jeanette Snider, assistant director of undergraduate programs at the University of Maryland’s Robert H. Smith School of Business, co-presented with her College of Education classmates Julia Anderson and Benjamin Beltran on the challenges student affairs practitioners may face engaging and incorporating multiracial students, an important, often invisible student population.

When Kristin LaRiviere, assistant director in the Undergraduate Program at the University of Maryland's Robert H. Smith School of Business, graduated with her M.A. in 2011, she had no desire to return back to school. Then, as the years went by and more of her peers returned to school, she started questioning if returning for a PhD was the right move for her. She ended up following the same advice that she gives students: don't proceed unless you know the "why" behind your decision.

Brian Horick, Assistant Dean of the Robert H. Smith School of Business, has devoted the last 20 years of his life to elevating undergraduate students’ academic experience, and making sure they have the tools to go above and beyond in their careers once they graduate.

This week, Tori Shay will be celebrating her one-year anniversary as an academic advisor for the undergraduate program at the University of Maryland's Robert H. Smith School of Business. And while she’s only completing her first year as a professional advisor for Smith, she has spent the past seven years at the University of Maryland building bridges, growing communities, and empowering students.

Kassandra Scarcia does not take no for an answer, and she has spent the majority of her life mentoring others to keep fighting, keep reaching, and keep on keeping. She is currently an Assistant Director and Academic Advisor for the Smith Undergraduate Program at the Shady Grove Campus as well as a Student Affairs Coordinator. But Kassy’s penchant for helping those around her go far beyond just her job title.
