Smith Logistics Students Present 'Person of the Year' Award at Industry Day

The Smith School's Logistics, Transportation and Supply Chain Management Society (LTSCM Society) and the Supply Chain Club (SCC) named Linda Morgan as their 2003 "Person of the Year." The award was presented by Allison Healy, co-president of LTSCM, at the Sixth Annual Industry Day on October 31, 2003.

The Twelfth Annual Frontiers in Services Conference attracted 163 marketing professionals and academics from 24 countries to the Washington, D.C., area October 23-26, 2003. The conference was held at the Robert H. Smith School of Business at the University of Maryland, and the Hyatt Regency in Bethesda.

Smith MBAs Finish Marine Corps Marathon and Raise Money for Charity

Six second-year Smith MBA students competed in and finished the 2003 Marine Corps Marathon in Washington, D.C., on October 26, 2003. Although pushed by personal strength and commitment through the 26.2-mile endurance road race, the Smith team was united and inspired by their mutual commitment to supporting the fight against Alzheimer's disease.

Smith Schools High-Tech Expansion Wins Building Award

The new $38 million wing at the Smith School has been recognized by the Associated General Contractors of America (AGC) for the facility's advanced technology. The Maryland chapter of AGC has honored the projects contractor, The Whiting-Turning Contracting Company, with the organizations 2003 Build Maryland Award for State of the Art Advancement.

Jane Frank Pledges $500,000 to Smith School of Business

Jane Frank, director and owner of the McLean, Va.-based Worlds of Wonder art gallery, has pledged $500,000 to the Smith School of Business, to honor the contributions of her husband, the school's dean. In recognition of the gift, the school has named its largest auditorium the Howard Frank Auditorium.
