At the 2022 JAPP Conference, celebrating its 40th anniversary, PCAOB board member Christina Ho highlighted accounting’s democratic role, emphasizing trust, transparency, and regulation as cornerstones of capital markets, while addressing emerging challenges such as technology, global transactions, climate change, and evolving policymaking needs.

2017 JAPP Conference
The Smith School Hosts 2017 Journal of Accounting and Public Policy Conference
On June 9, 2017, the University of Maryland's Robert H. Smith School of Business hosted the 2017 Journal of Accounting and Public Policy (JAPP) Conference in College Park, Md. The theme of the sixth annual conference was, "The Interactions between Regulatory Institutions and Accounting: A Public Policy Perspective." The editors of JAPP are Lawrence A. Gordon and Martin P. Loeb, both professors of accounting and information assurance at the Smith School.
2016 JAPP Conference
The 2016 Journal of Accounting and Public Policy (JAPP) conference took place at the IE Business School–Madrid Campus. The fifth conference was focused around the theme of Sustainability Accounting, Reporting and Assurance.
