27th Annual Doctoral Program Awards Banquet Honors PhD Students

The 27th Annual Doctoral Program Awards Banquet, held on May 10, 2007, was an opportunity for faculty, administrators and doctoral students to celebrate the accomplishments of the past year at the University of Maryland's Robert H. Smith School of Business. And what a year it was! Arjang Assad, professor of management science and senior associate dean, noted the continued upward trajectory of the Smith Schools doctoral program, as the school produces both excellent research and excellent researchers who go on to placements at some of the worlds best business schools.

Robert H. Smith School of Business Names Leadership and Excellence Award Winners

The University of Maryland's Robert H. Smith School of Business announced the recipients of this years Smith Leadership and Excellence Awards, honoring business leaders and organizations that have made significant and positive impacts on their industries and the community in the mid-Atlantic region. Smith School Dean Howard Frank presented the 2007 awards at a ceremony at the seventh annual Undergraduate Awards Banquet on Thursday, May 3 at 6 p.m. 2007 Leadership and Excellence Award winners:

Smooth Sailing for All Hands on Deck Project

On April 29, 2007, more than 165 members of the Smith Community gathered for an Open Sail BBQ and Charity Auction to support Baltimore's Downtown Sailing Center. The event, which was a huge success, was organized by part-time MBA students Amada Buchanan, Michelle Cojocaru and America Vallecillo as part of an MBA course: Strategic Project Management: A Service Learning Course (BUMO 758P) at the University of Maryland's Robert H. Smith School of Business. The project also received support from the Part-time MBA Association.

Caps on, gowns pressed, the business executives graduating with MBA degrees from the University of Maryland's prestigious Robert H. Smith School of Business on April 15, 2007, are well armed for success within the fast-moving global, digital economy. They are further distinguished as members of the first Shanghai Executive MBA (EMBA) class to graduate from the Smith School, which is ranked among the worlds top business schools.

All Hands on Deck! Part-time MBA Students Need Your Help Supporting Disabled and At-risk Youth Programs at Baltimore Sailing Center

MBA students in Dr. Rhonda Reger's class on Strategic Project Management: A Service Learning Course(BUMO 758P) encourage you to come to All Hands on Deck, a sailing and fundraising event benefiting the outreach programs offered by the Downtown Sailing Center in Baltimore, MD. The event will be held Sunday, April 29; 12:00 5:00 p.m. Folks interested in contributing to the center can do so through donations or by buying a $25 ticket. Tickets are good for an open sail, free food and drink, and free admission to a charity auction.
