Smith Global Learning: European Executive MBA Participants Explore a Living Case in China

Participants in Smiths the Smith-GSBA Global Executive MBA Program recently had an opportunity to bring classroom lessons on global business and cross cultural management to life with a module in Beijing, China, December 11-22, 2006. The business managers from Europe were in Beijing to participate in a living case study presented by Otis Elevator executives. For the majority, it was their first trip to China.

New Online Source of Business Management Knowledge and Best Practices Now Available to Chinese-speaking Executives

Carly Fiorina's New Memoir Tops Must-Read List at Smith

I wrote it myself because I wanted it to be authentic," she said, explaining that she didn't use a ghostwriter or co-writer. The book is on the New York Times Best-Seller List.

Score One for Smith! First-year MBA Berber Rischen Takes Womens Field Hockey to NCAA Title

First-year MBA Berber Rischen took time off from writing her Leadership and Teamwork paper this weekend to help the Maryland Terrapins to their second consecutive National Championship in Field Hockey. Rischen joined the team this fall, using her final year of eligibility from her undergraduate work at Kent State. Since then, she has met the unique challenge of pursuing her MBA in the classroom while pursuing wins on the field. She started as midfielder in all but one game this season.

Smith Welcomes International Exchange Students

Smiths Center for Global Businesshosted a lunch for international exchange students on Monday, September 11, 2006, in the Executive Dining Room. Students from Denmark, France, Hong Kong, Italy, Japan, China, and Taiwan attended the event. Associate Dean Scott Koerwer, the staff of the Center for Global Business, and several American mentors welcomed the new students. The lunch provided an opportunity to deepen new friendships. It also provided a forum for questions about the Smith School, the Washington, D.C., area, and U.S.
