Lords of Finance Author Addresses the Smith School’s Incoming Full-time MBA Students

Many in the world of finance and banking have compared the current recession to the Great Depression of the 1930s, hoping that leaders of today and tomorrow might learn from the mistakes of the past. With great clarity, Dr. Liaquat Ahamed, author of Lords of Finance, conveyed the same historical analysis to the incoming full-time MBA class at the University of Maryland’s Robert H. Dianne Fox Wins Staff Excellence Award

Dianne Fox’s Staff Excellence award came as a pleasant surprise. Fox, who has been working for the Robert H. Smith School of Business for four and a half years, is the coordinator for the Logistics, Business and Public Policy (LBPP) department. “As coordinator, you support all the faculty, help them get their job done, whatever that takes,” says Fox, who loves working with faculty and students in the department.

Brian Horick Wins Staff Excellence Award

When asked about his job as the Director of Academic Advising, Brian Horick decisively states: “My favorite part is the interaction with the students.” Apparently, he is one of the best, as he recently won a Staff Excellence Award this past June.

The Smith School Welcomes its Newest Undergraduates with the Ernst & Young Freshman Fellows Orientation Program

College Park, Md. – Aug. 30, 2009 – The University of Maryland’s Robert H. Smith School of Business hosted its first-ever Ernst & Young Freshman Fellows Orientation Program. The company’s generous $250,000 gift to the Smith School in June 2009 created the orientation program and endowment, and produced two days of team-building, top-rate keynote speakers and seminars, and real-life ethics training for the freshmen in attendance.
