Andrea Brody ’87 Headlines 4th Annual Women Leading Women Event

Women need advocacy and support at each stage of their careers. While the number of females in management positions is growing, women still have fewer role models and mentors than men. That’s why the University of Maryland’s Robert H. Smith School of Business hosts Women Leading Women, celebrating an inspirational female trailblazer in the business world.

Smith Community Participates in First Court Classic

Since last spring, the Smith Dean’s Student Advisory Council (DSAC), the Undergraduate Program, and the Office of Development and Alumni Relations at the University of Maryland’s Robert H. Smith School of Business have been planning a ground-breaking event in which students, alumni, and faculty teams take to the court to see who reigns supreme in a round robin basketball tournament.

The Women Leading Women event scheduled for Thursday, March 5, has been postponed due to a forecast of inclement weather. *The event has been rescheduled for Monday, March 23*.

Robert H. Smith School of Business to Share in University of Maryland Gifts Totaling $60 Million

The University of Maryland announced gifts totaling $60 million, including $30 million from real estate developer Robert H. Smith, an alumnus and benefactor of the Robert H. Smith School of Business. Smiths gift will support students, faculty and academic programs in the Smith School, as well as support the university's Clarice Smith Performing Arts Center.

Smith Alumni Enjoy Private Event at National Aquarium

On June 7, 2014, alumni of the University of Maryland’s Robert H. Smith School of Business enjoyed a private evening event at the National Aquarium in Baltimore, Md. The sold-out event was a huge hit and hundreds of alumni, family and friends enjoyed a leisurely tour, avoiding the heavy crowds typically endured during normal operating hours. 

Bob Hisaoka named UMD Distinguished Alumnus

From co-owning some of the nation’s largest car dealerships to owning a Chicago-style hot dog restaurant franchise to working with dozens of charities to serving on the Smith School’s board of advisors, Robert G. Hisaoka ’79 has done it all. Now, he can add distinguished alumnus to his list of accomplishments and accolades.

Andy Enfield, MBA ‘94

It was the Cinderella story of March Madness season when Andy Enfield, MBA ’94, coached Florida Gulf Coast University’s men’s basketball team to the NCAA Sweet 16. Enfield has always loved basketball, from his undergraduate days as an All-American for Johns Hopkins University through his stints as an NBA assistant coach with the Milwaukee Bucks (1994-1996) and Boston Celtics (1996-1998).
