Smith School’s New Career Center Opens
The Smith School’s Office of Career Services (OCS)opened its new Career Center on September 15 with an open house for employers, faculty and students. The new center will help the school make key connections, create partnerships and build relationships with corporations to help companies meet their recruiting goals and students achieve their career aspirations.
MBAs Get Career Path Direction at Orientation Week
MBA students got a dose of career guidance at their introduction to Smith’s Office of Career Services (OCS) on Wednesday and Thursday of Full-Time MBA Orientation Week. The OCS is rallying students behind its mission to help them develop as leaders for the organizations where they will ultimately land at the conclusion of their two-year MBA program and the orientation content reflected that goal.
MBA Students Take Center Stage in Improv Class

Smith School of Business have the opportunity to participate in a unique improv course taught by acclaimed Broadway actor, Marc Kudisch, a three-time Tony Award nominee and 2007 Helen Hayes Award winner. (Kudisch was nominated for his roles in Sycamore Trees and Golden Age for the 2011 Helen Hayes Awards.)

The Robert H. Smith School of Business, Office of Career Services hosted an Employer Appreciation Dinner on Thursday, July 22 in the nation’s capital to recognize the importance of the employer relationships that are created at the Smith School.
Smith Consulting Panel Lauded by MBA Students
The Office of Career Services spearheaded a hugely successful Consulting Panel on Friday, Feb. 26, 2010. Carolyn Eichler, MBA ’90 – partner at Computer Sciences Corporation; Mark Horn – principal at Deloitte Consulting; Landon Johnson, MBA ’99 –president of Talant; and Kurt Reisenberg – executive director at Corporate Executive Board – offered candid insight into the consulting industry. The highly interactive event afforded Smith students the opportunity to learn more about the consulting industry, and better informed their decision-making relative to post-MBA career paths.
Smith School hosts 1st annual Employer Evening of Appreciation
At the Robert H. Smith School of Business, University of Maryland, the relationship between recruiters and the Smith School is an essential one – an idea emphasized at the school’s 1st annual Employer Evening of Appreciation on Monday, Dec. 14, 2009 in Van Munching Hall. At this event hosted by the Office of Career Services, Dean G. “Anand” Anandalingam, Associate Dean of External Strategy Gerald Suarez and a few Smith School students thanked the many employers in attendance for their contributions to the Smith School.
Smith School Hosts Marc Cosentino for Case Interview Prep Workshop
The Robert H. Smith School of Business hosted a case interview workshop featuring nationally recognized case interview guru Marc Cosentino in Van Munching Hall, Sept. 8-11, 2009. Case questions are typically business related challenges presented by an interviewer to gauge how a candidate breaks down and solves the problem during a job interview.
Smith Students Get a Job-Search Boost from the Office of Career Management
In tough economic times, jobs can be hard to come by. It’s a serious challenge for graduating students, one that the Smith School’s Office of Career Management (OCM) is eager to help them surmount. Smith Network and Connect Week, held February 23 through 27, gave students the opportunity to meet employers, brush up on their job-seeeking skills and widen their horizons as they tackle the challenges of a tight job market. Government, corporate and non-profit recruiters met and mingled with students, while OCM staff gave invaluable resume and job-search tips.
