The fictitious scenario (another involved a pharmaceutical company linked to mercury contamination in India) framed part of a Feb. 22 "Leadership under Fire 2013" competition at the University of Maryland's Robert H. Smith School of Business.

A little rain didn’t stop students from coming out to meet recruiters at the first ever “Big Four” Accounting Day, Sept. 6, 2012, at the University of Maryland’s Robert H. Smith School of Business. The “Big Four” accounting firms — Deloitte, Ernst & Young, KPMG, and PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC) — welcomed undergraduates and master’s students studying accounting . The students and recruiters mingled over a barbeque lunch under tents in the outdoor courtyard of Van Munching Hall.

Smith School’s New Career Center Opens
The Smith School’s Office of Career Services (OCS)opened its new Career Center on September 15 with an open house for employers, faculty and students. The new center will help the school make key connections, create partnerships and build relationships with corporations to help companies meet their recruiting goals and students achieve their career aspirations.
MBAs Get Career Path Direction at Orientation Week
MBA students got a dose of career guidance at their introduction to Smith’s Office of Career Services (OCS) on Wednesday and Thursday of Full-Time MBA Orientation Week. The OCS is rallying students behind its mission to help them develop as leaders for the organizations where they will ultimately land at the conclusion of their two-year MBA program and the orientation content reflected that goal.
