Sports Business Society
The Sports Business Society (SBS) is a student-run organization dedicated to helping Terps explore careers across the sports industry while building a strong and supportive professional network. Open to students from all majors, SBS offers hands-on learning, industry exposure and a community of peers passionate about sports business.
What SBS Offers:

Maryland Sports Business Conference
The Maryland Sports Business Conference (MarylandSBC) is a flagship spring event that brings together students and top professionals from across the sports industry. Founded in 2020 by student leaders Bradley Polkowitz and Rachel Levitt, the conference expands access to sports business education, career insights and industry connections for students across the DMV.
Hosted annually by the Schanwald Sports Management Program, MarylandSBC features keynote speakers, panels, workshops and networking opportunities designed to inspire the next generation of sports leaders.

Sports Management Leadership Council
The Sports Management Leadership Council (SMLC) is a group of student leaders dedicated to engaging and inspiring their peers to get involved with the Schanwald Sports Management Program. As ambassadors for the program, SMLC members play a key role in building community and connecting students to opportunities in sports management.
What SMLC Members Do:
- Host information sessions for students interested in the program
- Staff tables and represent the program at campus events
- Assist in planning and executing signature events for Schanwald cohorts
- Serve as mentors and points of contact for students exploring career pathways in sports management
SMLC members help foster a vibrant, welcoming community, ensuring that all students have the opportunity to learn, grow and connect within the Schanwald Sports Management Program.
