Welcome to the University of Maryland's Robert H. Smith School of Business. This page contains information and instructions specifically for students who are pursuing the dual degree master's program between KAIST and the University of Maryland (UMD) through the KAIST Finance MBA or Master of Financial Engineering degrees and the Master of Finance ("MFin") at UMD.
Admitted applicants should be ready to join the Smith MFin Program in College Park, Md., USA, in the spring term, which begins during the third week of January 2021.

Instructions for Submitting Your MFin Application
Send an e-mail to the University of Maryland at firstname.lastname@example.org so your application fee can be waived and your unsubmitted application can be marked for this particular program. Please remember to include your full name in the body of the e-mail and use the following subject line:
Starting My KAIST <MFE or FMBA>, Smith MFIN Application Now
Within approximately three business days, you will receive an e-mail response to confirm your application fee has been waived and your application has been marked appropriately.
After you receive the confirmation e-mail from the University of Maryland, you may submit your application.
- The equivalent of a U.S. bachelor's degree
- Sufficient quantitative background (exposure to linear algebra and advanced statistics is highly recommended)
- Transcript(s) and degree certificate(s)
- Letter of recommendation
- Professional resume
- Official TOEFL or IELTS report — required if you do not have a four-year or advanced degree from a country where English is the official language. Applicants who have not yet taken the TOEFL or IELTS exam should contact the Smith Admissions Office at email@example.com to make them aware of when you plan to take the exam.

Tuition and Fees
Students enrolling through this program from the KAIST MFE or FMBA will pay the prevailing in-state tuition rate plus fees at UMD. Students who are able to transfer the full number of 10 credits from KAIST will have 20 credits to complete in the MFin program. For the academic year 2020-21, the in-state tuition rate per credit is estimated at $1,582 per credit hour. Students will need to cover health insurance and other living costs.
