Smith School of Business today announced that it has entered into a strategic partnership with the Management Development Institute (MDI) in India and the University of International Business and Economics in China to jointly deliver a Global Consortium MBA program that will simultaneously draw students from the United States, China and India.

MBA students in Dr. Rhonda Reger's class on Strategic Project Management: A Service Learning Course(BUMO 758P) encourage you to come to All Hands on Deck, a sailing and fundraising event benefiting the outreach programs offered by the Downtown Sailing Center in Baltimore, MD. The event will be held Sunday, April 29; 12:00 5:00 p.m. Folks interested in contributing to the center can do so through donations or by buying a $25 ticket. Tickets are good for an open sail, free food and drink, and free admission to a charity auction.
Smith Team Heads to International Round of Venture Capital Investment Competition
A team of third-year part-time MBA students won second place and received a check for $2000 in the Southeast Regional Venture Capital Investment Competition (VCIC). Moshe Cohen, Nat Forgotson, Shad Imam, Skye Manders, and Tom Whelan represented the Smith School of Business at the competition held at Georgia Tech in Atlanta the weekend of March 9, 2007. Their second-place win guarantees the team a spot at the International Finals, which will be held at the Kenan-Flagler Business School at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in April.

Smith School Dean Howard Frank, Dingman Center Entrepreneur-in-Residence Tien Wong and Smith School Fellow Wei-Wu He were among the business leaders providing insight into doing business in China and India at a Northern Virginia breakfast forum on February 28, 2007. Dean Frank moderated an expert panel that included Wong, Wei-Wu He and three others at Surviving & Thriving in the Flat World: China, India, and You! Irene Chang Britt, the VP and general manager of Campbell Soups Sauces and Beverages division, spoke to more than 100 students on March 2, 2007, encouraging each to 'know yourself' to become a better leader. A vibrant speaker, Britt recounted the challenges she's faced as a woman, a minority, a foreigner, an entrepreneur, and a corporate professional, and how she turned those challenges into opportunities. Included in her speech were her 10 pillars of leadership.
Smith MBA Venture Capital Investment Competition
The Smith Entrepreneurship Club is pleased to announce the Venture Capital Investment Competition on February 14-16, 2007 at the Smith School of Business. In the competition, MBA students judge the business plans and pitches of local start-up companies currently seeking funding, choose a company in which to invest, and produce a term sheet for the investment. In turn, the MBA students are judged by real life venture capitalists.
