Smith School Deans Tour North Wing Construction

Smith School Dean Howard Frank and Christine Stewart, assistant dean for administration, took a hard-hat tour through the North Wing construction site on Friday, Aug. 31. The $21-million, 38,000-square-foot wing of Van Munching Hall is nearing completion, with the crew shooting for a finish date in early October.

Southwest Campus Gateway Construction Outside VMH

In July 2007 fences went up outside the main entrance to Van Munching Hall as construction of the university's Southwest Campus Gateway began. Lee Comstock, director of operations at Smith, says, "This Gateway will serve as the main pedestrian entrance to the campus on the south side. As part of this construction, a clock tower will be constructed." Additional plantings are also planned and this effort should address the pooling of water that currently occurs in the Mowatt Lane Parking Garage, adds Comstock.

New Wing. Great Opportunities

The $38-million expansion of Van Munching Hall, home of the Robert H. Smith School of Business, opened for classes on September 3, 2002. The four-story, 103,300-square-foot space is an attractive, functional, technologically advanced learning environment. The building was specially designed to meet the requirements of Smiths undergraduate and graduate programs, delivering the academic, professional, and social experiences necessary to help prepare our students to lead 21st century organizations.
