Alumni spotlight: Payvius

Nigerian-born Mondiu Ladejobi, EMBA ’13, found using wire transfers to send money home inconvenient and plagued by poor service. Ladejobi used his time in Smith’s EMBA program to launch Payvius, an international money transfer service that uses mobile and cloud technology. Ladejobi is focused on rolling out Payvius to serve the Sub-Saharan Africa market first. His goal is to help migrants and immigrants in the United States save on the cost of sending money home.

Smith Students Attend 5th Annual Asian MBA Conference

A group of MBA students from the University of Maryland’s Robert H. Smith School of Business traveled to New York City to attend the 5th Annual Asian MBA Leadership Conference and Career Exposition Forum, September 19 – 21, 2013, at the Hilton NYC. The Asian MBA Conference attracted over 2,500 top Asian students (both undergrad and graduate level), professionals, and Fortune 500 employers such as IBM, GE, P&G, Facebook, Wells Fargo, and Kimberley-Clark.

Marketing Analytics Roundtable Highlights

The Robert H. Smith School of Business’s Center for Complexity in Business held its second-annual Digital Marketing Analytics Roundtable Aug. 1, 2013 at the Smith Suite in the Ronald Reagan Building in Washington, D.C. The roundtable was held in collaboration with Teradata. Smith marketing faculty members Bill Rand, the director of CCB, and Roland Rust, the executive director of CCB, led the event. 

Congratulations, Smith EMBA Cohort 12!

Thirty-eight students from the Robert H. Smith School of Business Executive MBA Cohort 12 gathered at the University of Maryland’s Samuel Riggs IV Alumni Center on July 26, 2013, for a very special occasion: graduation ceremonies. With family, friends, faculty, and staff on hand, the close-knit and supportive culture of our community was clearly on display as Vice Dean Joyce Russell acknowledged the sacrifice on the families and the milestone achievement of the graduates.

Smith Strengths Highlighted in Economist EMBA Rankings

Already highly ranked by the Financial Times, Wall Street Journal and Bloomberg Businessweek, the executive MBA program at the University of Maryland's Robert H. Smith School of Business is 26th in the Economist's inaugural EMBA world rankings. Among U.S. programs, the Smith School is 13th.
