Brandon Lucas, a junior information systems and management double major, reflects on his experience as president of the Smith Business Academy during fall 2017 at the University of Maryland’s Robert H. On Nov. 15, 2017, students, faculty, staff, and alumni celebrated Smith Day, a new tradition that celebrates the University of Maryland's Robert H. Smith School of Business. Hundreds of students, faculty and staff joined the inaugural celebration in Van Munching Hall and at campuses in Shady Grove and Baltimore, Md., and Washington, D.C. Nearly 300 alumni attended Smith Day events at nine locations around the world, including China and the Philippines.

Smith School of Business on Wednesday, Dec. 20, 2017, at 9 a.m. as we celebrate the accomplishments of business graduates at the Xfinity Center in College Park, Md. For winter commencement, tickets are not required for the Smith School ceremony or the campus-wide ceremony on Tuesday, Dec. 19. Six MBA students at the University of Maryland’s Robert H. Smith School of Business did summer 2017 internships at Citi in New York City, and all six received full-time job offers at the end of the program. “Citi has a collaborative culture, which is something I find very appealing,” said Joseph Caraccio, a U.S. Army veteran who was part of the Smith School group. “It was something that attracted me to Smith, so I wanted to work in a company that has that culture as well.”

Nov. 2-3, 2017, nearly 200 students from the University of Maryland’s Robert H. Smith School of Business traveled to New York City for the annual “Smith in the City” trip. The trek featured visits to about three dozen companies and an alumni networking event, where students were able to connect with about 130 alumni. Terps Take Manhattan
