Brian Jefferson teaches entity-level taxation, individual taxation, and business ethics at the Robert H. Smith School of Business. His courses focus on developing professional judgment, ethical reasoning, and communication skills alongside technical tax knowledge.
Jefferson previously spent more than twenty years at PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC), where he served as a Lead Tax Partner advising multinational companies on complex domestic and international tax matters. He was a leader in Tax Reform, Business Development and People Development in the partnership. He brings that experience into the classroom through applied case analysis, client-style communication exercises, and decision-making in ambiguous fact patterns.
His teaching examines how emerging technologies, particularly artificial intelligence, are reshaping professional services. As a member of the Smith School’s AI Task Force and Teaching and Education Committee, he integrates technology into coursework while emphasizing accountability, critical thinking, and responsible use of professional judgment.
Jefferson earned a Bachelor of Science in Accounting and Finance from the University of Maryland and a Master of Science in Taxation from the University of Baltimore School of Law. He is a proud CPA in the State of Maryland.
