A group of first- and second-year Smith MBA students traveled to the New York City area on the Finance Associations annual Wall Street Trek, Nov. 8-9, 2007. The trip is designed to allow Smith Students interested in pursuing careers in capital markets to attend discussion and informational sessions with Wall Street professionals.
The Second Annual Nationwide Fisher National Biz Quiz Challenge took place at Ohio State University's Fisher College of Business from October 25-27, 2007 and Smith was well represented.
On November 2, 2007 a team of Smith MBAs consisting of John Bullock, Tekisha Harvey and Ngozi Pole took second place at the 3rd Annual Minority MBA Exclusive Case Competition at Howard University.

Smith School of Business today named the 2007 Person of the Year John D. Porcari, secretary of the Maryland Department of Transportation. Porcari accepted the award at a ceremony at the university.

Smith undergraduate students were treated to a presentation by Richard Dickson -- Mattel Brands senior vice president of marketing, media and entertainment, worldwide -- on Oct. 23, 2007 in Van Munching Hall. Dickson graduated from Maryland with a degree in consumer economics and was excited to be back.
