On September 28, 2006, the Smith School's Dingman Center for Entrepreneurship welcomed some of the regions most successful female entrepreneurs as well as aspiring entrepreneurs and business owners to the Women's Entrepreneurship Event, co-sponsored by the Smith Association of Women MBAs.
The University of Maryland's Robert H. Smith School of Business, a top-ranked U.S. business school with Executive MBA and custom executive education programs in China, has launched its 2007 China Business Plan Competition. Now in its third year, the Smith School's China Business Plan Competition supports the growth of world-class business ideas and business leaders in China.
Friday, September 15, Jeremy Rifkin, founder and president of The Foundation on Economic Trends, spoke to first-year MBA students about new economic models and the hydrogen economy. Rifkin has written books on both subjects, respectively titled The Age of Accessand The Hydrogen Economy.
Net Impact, a Smith MBA club, recently hosted a dialogue with the New York Times bestselling author Dr. Mark Albion. Albion spoke on successful leaders and socially responsible businesses. He also highlighted various points made in his latest book, "True to Yourself: Leading a Values-Based Business.

College Park, Md. May 16, 2006 The University of Marylands Robert H. Smith School of Business today announced that it has received a Center for International Business Education and Research (CIBER) grant that awards the school a total of $1.42 million over four years from the U.S. Department of Education.
The Smith School has been awarded a four-year, $1.4 million grant by the U.S. Department of Education to fund a Center for International Business Education and Research (CIBER). This high honor designates the Smith School as a national resource center in international business education and research. There are only 31 CIBERs in the nation.

Two current Robert H. Smith School of Business students and a recent alumnus were among the top winners of the sixth annual University of Maryland $50K Business Plan Competition that wrapped up Friday, April 7, 2006.
