Smith’s Got Talent – MBA Style
On May 6, 2016, full-time MBA students at the University of Maryland’s Robert H. Smith School of Business hosted the sixth annual “Smith’s Got Talent” variety show. Over the years, the show has become a highlight of the spring semester for Smith Terps. Some years there is more talent than others, but everyone always has a great time. The event perfectly showcases the tight-knit community of Smith MBA students at UMD.

On May 20, 2016, 1,200 students graduated from the University of Maryland’s Robert H. Smith School of Business with bachelors’, masters’ and doctoral degrees. The commencement ceremonies were held at the Xfinity Center on the university’s College Park campus. Graduate Ceremony At the graduate ceremony, Tiffany Watson performed the National Anthem and Scott Graham delivered the student address.
Smith Honors MBAs at Awards Banquet
The University of Maryland’s Robert H. Smith School of Business celebrated the accomplishments of full-time MBA students at the annual MBA End-of-Year Banquet on May 12, 2016, at the College Park Marriott Hotel and Conference Center. Students nominate their classmates and professors for the awards and a committee of students, faculty and administrators selects the recipients.
Smith Launches New Ad Campaign
Chances are you have seen the new “Lead Fearlessly” ad campaign for the Robert H. Smith School of Business as you’ve traveled around the Baltimore-Washington, D.C., metro area this spring – at the DC Metro, Oriole Park at Camden Yards or Baltimore/Washington International Thurgood Marshall Airport (BWI). Radio ads are playing on local stations and banners ads are on display on numerous news websites throughout the region.
Dingman Center for Entrepreneurship Launches Startup Podcast
The Dingman Center for Entrepreneurship at the University of Maryland’s Robert H. Smith School of Business has launched a startup podcast called Bootstrapped. The podcast features founders, investors and serial entrepreneurs from the Washington, D.C., Maryland and Virginia startup scene. While the podcast covers many aspects of startup life, the heart of the show focuses on funding from both the founder and investor perspectives, thus the name, Bootstrapped.
Smith Honors Faculty & Staff with Excellence Awards
The Robert H. Smith School of Business at the University of Maryland is recognized as one of the top research institutions in the world, but it is also a place where students can learn from some of the best teachers in a highly supportive community. At the end of each academic year, the school honors its outstanding faculty and staff members with awards of excellence. The awards were presented at the School Assembly on May 6, 2016.

Join the University of Maryland’s Robert H. Smith School of Business on Friday, May 20, 2016, as we celebrate the accomplishments of more than 1,200 business graduates at two commencement ceremonies. The ceremonies will take place in the Xfinity Center in College Park, Md. Tickets are not required for the Smith ceremonies but please note that tickets are required for the campus-wide ceremony on May 18 at 7 p.m.
