Amy Owens was very excited to receive her staff excellence award from the Robert H. Smith School of Business earlier this year (Spring 2010). Owens works as an admissions coordinator in the MBA/MS Admissions Office and says she finds her job to be extremely rewarding.

Smith School Hosts 7th Annual Wikler Finance Case Competition

The seventh annual Joseph M. Wikler Finance Case Competition took place on April 16, 2010, at the University of Maryland’s Robert H. Smith School of Business. The competition, which is open to juniors and seniors from the BMGT 440 Advanced Financial Management class, began with nine teams selected by the instructors of the Fall 2009 and Spring 2010 sections.

College Park, Md. – May 10, 2010 – Social Growth Technologies, an online digital payment company, took home $15,000 as the top winner at the fifth annual Cupid’s Cup business competition, hosted on May 7 by the University of Maryland’s Dingman Center for Entrepreneurship at the Robert H. Smith School of Business. The competition highlights the center’s success starting and growing firms “from the back of the napkin to the first million dollars in financing” and is sponsored by alumnus Kevin Plank, founder and CEO of sports apparel maker Under Armour.

NEWS RELEASE: May 4, 2010 Smith School Receives $1M from Henry & Elaine Kaufman Foundation to Support Fellowship

College Park, Md. – May 4, 2010 – The University of Maryland’s Robert H. Smith School of Business today announced it will receive a $1 million endowment from the Henry & Elaine Kaufman Foundation to support a fellowship in business history, in affiliation with the school’s Center for Financial Policy. University of Maryland history professor David Sicilia was appointed the first Henry Kaufman Fellow in Business History, effective July 1.
