The Dingman Center for Entrepreneurship began its year-long 25th anniversary celebration on September 21, 2010 with a day of festivities concluded by a keynote address from University of Maryland alumnus Michael Dingman, the entrepreneur-philanthropist whose gift helped transform the center into a world-class entrepreneurial institute with a worldwide reach.

Curt Grimm, Dean’s Professor of Supply Chain and Strategy, was named one of the University of Maryland’s 2010-2011 Distinguished Scholar-Teachers. The honor goes to just five Maryland faculty each year and honors the rare combination of outstanding scholarly accomplishment with excellence in teaching.
Smith School Board Member Frank Islam Appointed to U.S. Export-Import Bank
The White House recently appointed Smith School Advisory Board member Frank F. Islam to the board of the U.S. Export-Import Bank, the country’s official export-credit agency. He was also named to the Industry Trade Advisory Committee on Small and Minority Business, a four-year Department of Commerce appointment.

Smith School of Business is a favored source for accounting hires, according to a Wall Street Journal survey of recruiting executives released yesterday. Participants were asked to rank schools that produced the best-qualified graduates for their industries, overall and by major. Recruiters ranked the Smith School No. 7 for accounting and No. 21 for business. The University of Maryland as a whole ranked No. 8 on the survey.

Students at the University of Maryland, College Park, are invited to attend the Center for International Business Education and Research (CIBER) Symposium on International Programs at the Robert H. Smith School of Business. The event takes place on Sept. 13 from 6 to 8 p.m. in Frank Auditorium in Van Munching Hall, and is hosted by CIBER and the Smith Undergraduate Student Association (SUSA) as part of SUSA Business Week.
