On November 2, 2007 a team of Smith MBAs consisting of John Bullock, Tekisha Harvey and Ngozi Pole took second place at the 3rd Annual Minority MBA Exclusive Case Competition at Howard University. The competition was sponsored by LMI Government Consulting which provided participants with a case based on a real-world supply chain issue that one of their clients, National Veterinary Stockpile (NVS), is facing.

University of Maryland Business School Honors State Transportation Secretary for Industry Contributions

Smith Team Advances to Finals in National Association of Women MBAs Conference Case Competition
The Smith School team made it to the final round of the First Annual National Association of Women MBAs (NAWMBA) Case Competition. Team "The Smiths," consisting of second-year MBA students Liz Slobasky, Anne Zeeman and Lyubov Luzhanova and first-years Kristi Zobel and Varongnard Trongkongsin, will be presenting their solution to the case during the final round of competition; which will be held in Van Munching Hall on Nov. 3, 3:30-6:30 p.m., as part of the National Association of Women MBAs Conference, which is being hosted by the Robert H. Smith School of Business, Nov. 2-3, 2007.
Mattel Senior VP Speaks to Smith Undergraduates About Living Brands
Smith undergraduate students were treated to a presentation by Richard Dickson -- Mattel Brands senior vice president of marketing, media and entertainment, worldwide -- on Oct. 23, 2007 in Van Munching Hall. Dickson graduated from Maryland with a degree in consumer economics and was excited to be back. Prior to joining Mattel, Dickson spent over 15 years in the fashion and beauty industry working with top names in retail and design at Bloomingdales and Este Lauder.
Columbia Business School Takes Top Prize in University of Maryland M&A Competition
College Park, Md. October 16, 2007 - The University of Maryland's Robert H. Smith School of Business today announced the winners of its first Mergers & Acquisitions Competition, held October 11-12. The event, organized by Smiths MBA Finance Association, challenged teams of MBA students from leading business schools to create and deliver M&A pitches to a panel of executives from Wall Street firms including Credit Suisse and Lehman Brothers. Reznick Groups Kurtis Wolff Talks Ethics With Smith School Students
On Monday, Sept. 17, 2007 the Robert H. Smith School of Business welcomed Kurtis A. Wolff, Principal in Charge of Audit and Assurance at the Reznick Group, to its Business Ethics Lecture Series. Wolff, speaking to a large crowd of Smith School students, shared his thoughts on Ethics Everyday in Public Accounting. Wolff shared his experiences in accounting and auditing with the group both from his time at Reznick, a top-20 public accounting firm, as well as from his prior experiences within the industry.
