Undergraduates Excel at QUEST’s Annual Brumberger Innovation & Consulting Conference

On December 10, 2009, 300 people packed the University of Maryland's Samuel Riggs IV Alumni Center for the Annual Brumberger Innovation & Consulting Conference held by the Quality Enhancement Systems and Teams (QUEST) Honors Fellows Program. Named for 2007 alumnus Matthew Brumberger, whose financial support sustains the conference. This event showcases student consulting projects for corporate and nonprofit clients, faculty, parents and peers.

Smith School Hosts Global Conference for MBA Leaders in Washington, April 15 -17

This week, the Robert H. Smith School of Business at the University of Maryland is sponsoring Graduate Business Conference 2010 from April 15 to 17 in Washington, D.C. This year’s event focuses on the topic: “Post-Crisis: Business Leadership in a New Global Economy.” The event is in its 28th year and is a gathering of student leaders from top MBA schools from around the world.

Global Challenge

Not a case competition.  Not a business plan competition. The Global Challenge is a unique opportunity to devise an entirely new public-private alliance--one that will allow a private enterprise to contribute to international development initiatives in a specified region. This event is being held in the spirit of President Obama’s Global Engagement,which seeks to address development challenges by engaging and empowering local stakeholders.

Maryland Undergrads Compete in Finals of General Motors Marketing Challenge

A team of undergraduates at the Robert H. Smith School of Business, University of Maryland, has made it to the final round in General Motors “GM&U” Marketing Challenge. Drexel University and Syracuse University are the other two finalists in the case competition. The challenge: create an integrated marketing communications plan for GM’s new College Discount Program.

Smith Undergrads Make Annual Trek to NYC

Over 100 Smith undergraduate students and several faculty members -- Gary Bulmash, Hugh Turner, Elinda Kiss, and Mary Harms -- recently traveled to New York City for two days of networking with alumni, company visits and sightseeing. Members of the Smith Undergraduate Student Association (SUSA) mingled with over 50 local alumni at a reception in Times Square on Thursday evening.
