Orientation Program, Northrop Grumman Case Competition Set MBAs Up For Success
As their first semester comes to a close, a case competition organized with Northrop Grumman during the final week of MBA orientation is paying dividends for the class of 2017 full-time MBA students at the University of Maryland's Robert H. Smith School of Business. Many first-year MBA students cite the activity as a highlight of their Smith experience and great way to prepare for the rigors of a full-time program and job search.
QUEST Undergrads Present Capstone Consulting Projects
Some of the University of Maryland’s top undergraduates impressed a crowd of hundreds of business professionals, faculty, alumni, peers, and family members at the annual QUEST Conference on Dec. 9, 2015, at the Riggs Alumni Center. The 10 teams of students – all seniors in the Quality Enhancement Systems and Teams (QUEST) honors program – delivered polished presentations of the results of their capstone consulting projects.

The University of Maryland’s Robert H. Smith School of Business is a co-host for ‘a conversation’ with Council on Foreign Relations Co-Chairman Robert Rubin on Tuesday, Dec. 8, at 4 p.m. in the Gildenhorn Theatre at the Clarice Smith Performing Arts Center. UMD economics professor John Haltiwanger will moderate the discussion on “The U.S. Economy: Short- and Long-Term Outlook Challenges.”

The workshop featured speakers Carolyn Covey Morris, Founder and CEO of QMobius Inc., a brand marketing and public relations firm, and Halina Caravello, VP of environmental, health, and safety at Tyco International.

Business Summit Speaker Shares Three Keys for Workplace 2025
Meeting current customer demands won’t be enough in 2025, keynote speaker Calvin G. Butler Jr. said on Nov. 13, 2015, at the fourth annual Smith School Business Summit in Baltimore. “Meeting the current demands of customers is only part of it,” said Butler, CEO of Baltimore Gas and Electric Company. “You need to think about where your customers are going, and you need to meet them there.”

Specialty Masters Students Learn to Dine for Success
Networking dinners are a very common part of doing business, and can be a great opportunity to expand one’s relationships. On Nov. 10, 2015, 40 specialty masters students at the University of Maryland’s Robert H. Smith School of Business attended a Dining for Success workshop facilitated by Joyce Russell, senior associate dean of learning and teaching, and Jeffrey Kudisch, assistant dean of corporate relations and managing director of the school’s Office of Career Services.
