New Faculty – Fall 2012
The Robert H. Smith School of Business welcomes 14 new faculty members to start the fall 2012 semester. The new faculty members hail from PhD programs and previous posts at top universities worldwide, including two former Smith School staff members who joined the teaching ranks. Smith students will also benefit from a stable of new adjunct instructors who bring their real-world experience into the classroom. Smith’s Shapiro Elected as Future President of Academy of Management
Debra L. Shapiro, the Clarice Smith Professor of Management and Organization at the Robert H. Smith School of Business, University of Maryland, has been elected to serve a five-year term on the executive committee of the Academy of Management (AOM), effective August 2012. Shapiro will serve from August 2015-2016 as academy president and the year afterward as immediate past president.

The Robert H. Smith School of Business, was honored with the 2012 Cummings Scholarly Achievement Award. The prestigious award is one of the highest professional honors in the field of organizational behavior, given annually by the Organizational Behavior Division of the Academy of Management to recognize outstanding early- to mid-career scholarly achievement.
