On Sept. 12, 2016, the University of Maryland’s Robert H. Smith School of Business celebrated its partnership with the Maryland Department of Commerce by hosting a discussion about "Maryland Open for Business" with Mike Gill, Secretary of the Maryland Department of Commerce, and Smith School Dean Alex Triantis.

Chocolate and caffeine – always a winning combination, but even tastier when consumed for a good cause! Students in the Social Innovation Fellows (SIF) program at the University of Maryland's Robert H. Smith School of Business were very popular at Van Munching Hall’s front desk earlier this week when they gave out cups of Fair Trade iced coffee and chocolate along with information about mental health services available on campus. Donations were welcome, with all proceeds going to the UMD’s Counseling Center.

Victor Mullins, associate dean of the undergraduate program at the University of Maryland's Robert H. Smith School of Business, recently interviewed Smith Senior Vincent Iyoriobhe '17 to discuss how he is “embracing his experience” during his Smith Journey. Vincent is in the process of earning a Bachelor of Science in Finance and Information Systems. Vincent has interned with the Royal Bank of Canada, General Electric and Bank of America Merrill Lynch.

The Hospitality Business Fellows (HBF) program at the University of Maryland’s Robert H. Smith School of Business was launched on Aug. 29, 2016. The 15 students in Cohort 1 of the program welcomed to their first class five senior executives from Choice Hotels International, who spoke about the wide variety of career opportunities available in the hospitality industry.

Louis is in the process of earning a Bachelor of Science in Finance. He is also a Scholarship Athlete on the University of Maryland Varsity Men’s Lacrosse Team.

College Park, Md. – September 15, 2016 – The undergraduate business program at the University of Maryland’s Robert H. Smith School of Business is ranked No. 19 in the nation in the latest edition of U.S. News & World Report’s “America’s Best Colleges.” The Smith School tied for 10th among public universities. Smith’s Management Information Systems ranked No. 10 in the nation and the Supply Chain Management/Logistics programs came in at No. 11 in the publication’s specialty rankings.

Luke is in the process of earning a Bachelor of Science in Accounting and Finance. Luke’s internship experience includes Pleasants Construction, Inc. (2014-2016) and RSM US LLP (2016-present). Upon graduation, Luke will continue into the Finance 4+1 Program, and prepare for the CPA.

On Sept. 7, 2016, the Robert H. Smith School of Business welcomed a new wave of students, none of which were freshmen. This unique group of students are transfer students from far and near, and to them, a whole new world is about to reveal itself.

Cece is in the process of earning a Bachelor of Science in Accounting and a Bachelor of Science in Finance. She has interned with PricewaterhouseCoopers (summer 2015) and is currently an intern with Deloitte (summer 2016 and summer 2017).
