MBA Consulting Club to Host Annual Consulting Forum
The Smith MBA Consulting Club invites the Smith community - full-time and part-time students, alumni and faculty - to attend its annual Consulting Forum on Friday, October 20. This year's panels will focus on trends in different segments of the consulting industry, as well as a 360-degree discussion of the ever-important client-consultant relationship. Featured companies include Deloitte, BearingPoint, PricewaterhouseCoopers, and Booz Allen Hamilton.

PBS CEO Exchange Hosted by Smith School
The Smith School hosted the taping of the national television program CEO Exchange on May 2, 2006. During the taping, five Smith MBA students had the opportunity to ask questions of the shows guests, Robert Johnson, founder of Black Entertainment Television, and Bill Marriott, CEO of Marriott International Inc. There's also a great video tour of the Smith School's Van Munching Hall.
U.S. News Ranks Smith Schools Part-time MBA Program No. 13 in U.S. School also Rated Among Nations Best in Five Specialty Areas

Maryland Day 2006: FEAR THE TURTLES!
The University of Maryland, College Park, celebrated its eighth annual Maryland Day on Saturday, April 29, attracting 75,000 visitors to campus. The Smith School welcomed visitors on McKeldin Mall, with the day's most popular giveaway - a Smith School/Testudo beach ball. In Van Munching Hall, visitors were able to tour the state-of-the-art building and attend an undergraduate program information session.
Smith Students Win University Business Plan Competition
Two current Robert H. Smith School of Business students and a recent alumnus were among the top winners of the sixth annual University of Maryland $50K Business Plan Competition that wrapped up Friday, April 7, 2006.
Terpedoes Consulting Wins Smith's Part-time MBA Case Competition
Terpedoes Consulting, LLC comprised of part-time students Kennedy Jennifer Kern, Felipe Moreno-Hines, Andrew Sachs, Jeffrey Wells, and Karen Zee won the 2006 Smith School Part-time MBA Case Competition. The final round of the grueling seven-week 39-team competition was held on March 3, 2006 in Van Munching Hall. The final round was judged by Dean Howard Frank, Mark Ordan (COO, The Mills Corporation), and Professor Ken G. Smith (Deans Chaired Professor, Department of Management and Organization, Robert H. Smith School of Business).
Smith School Honors 10 Exceptional Teachers with Krowe/Legg Mason Awards
For the past 20 years, the Smith School has been honoring and rewarding outstanding faculty members, instructors and PhD students for their teaching excellence. The Smith School community submitted 124 nominations for 58 teachers for the 2005-06 Krowe/Legg Mason Teaching Awards and 10 emerged as winners. (see list below)
Twenty Smith MBA Students Advance to Final Four in Part-time MBA Case Competition
Thirty-nine teams of four-to-five part-time MBA students are participating in this year's 2006 Part-time MBA Case Competition. The Grand Prize is $1,000 for each team member. Sixteen teams advanced to the semi-finals, which were held on Friday, February 24, and four teams emerged as finalists.
