What makes Smith’s OMSIS program special?

We’ve built a program that responds to the current state and emerging future of the information systems field – one that thoughtfully and skillfully integrates artificial intelligence into its curriculum. Students build foundational and pragmatic skills in a series of courses focused on AI, including:

  • AI, Agentic AI, Deep Learning and Data Science
  • Blockchain and Fintech
  • Cybersecurity and Digital Trust
  • Cloud Computing, Database and Information Management
  • Digital Transformation, Platforms, Ecosystems and Emerging Technologies

Experiential Learning is Key

Applied Learning

At Smith, learning is hands-on. You’ll design and implement an AI-based information system tailored to your current company or one aligned with your interests. This real-world, credit-bearing project allows you to apply classroom knowledge directly to business challenges, developing practical skills and confidence as you turn ideas into measurable impact.

Expert Mentorship

You won’t do it alone. Each project is supported by dual mentorship from a Smith faculty member and a member of our distinguished advisory board. These technology leaders bring strategic insight, real-world experience, and ongoing partnership, helping you refine your ideas and ensure your work meets both academic and industry standards.

Beyond the Classroom

Learning continues outside formal coursework through dynamic co-curricular experiences. The Center for AI in Business connects you with companies to solve real challenges, while AI Case Competitions expand your understanding of artificial intelligence applications across industries—broadening your perspective and preparing you to lead with innovation.
