Smith Community Helps High School Students Get a Head Start

Finding the right college is one of the biggest challenges young students face as they near the end of their high school years. So the Smith community's Black MBA Association (BMBAA) and the Smith Undergraduate Student Association (SUSA) partnered recently to facilitate this process for area high school students.

Seniors Present Plans to Corporate Sponsors at 9th Annual QUEST Practicum

The Quality Enhancement Systems and Teams (QUEST) Program held its 9th Annual QUEST Practicum Presentations on Friday, December 5, at the Robert H. Smith School of Business. Inside Van Munching Hall, clusters of purple and white balloons with a silver star on top decorated the lobby, while outside, the Washington, D.C. area enjoyed its first snowfall of the season.

Smith School Announces Winners of Second Annual Undergraduate Business Plan Competition

The Robert H. Smith School of Business is pleased to announce the winners of the Second Annual Undergraduate Business Plan Competition. Two teams, Cyprus Precision and Exhibit A, LLC, tied for first place, and each received $800. E-Core Partnership was awarded $400 for third place. The three winning teams presented their business plans in a ceremony held at the Smith School on Dec. 3, 2003.

The conference was held at the Robert H. Smith School of Business at the University of Maryland, and the Hyatt Regency in Bethesda.

Smith MBAs Finish Marine Corps Marathon and Raise Money for Charity

Six second-year Smith MBA students competed in and finished the 2003 Marine Corps Marathon in Washington, D.C., on October 26, 2003. Although pushed by personal strength and commitment through the 26.2-mile endurance road race, the Smith team was united and inspired by their mutual commitment to supporting the fight against Alzheimer's disease.
