University of Maryland Business School Hires 16 Top Faculty

College Park, Md. Sept. 13, 2007 - The University of Maryland's Robert H. Smith School of Business today announced 16 outstanding faculty members have joined the school from leading universities to start the 2007-2008 academic year.

Our position as a top business school spurred another great year for recruiting outstanding faculty members, said Howard Frank, dean of the Robert H. Smith School of Business. We can attract this top talent because weve invested in our infrastructure, endowments, students and research the marks of a top business school and as a result we have risen as an institution that draws the best and brightest academicians.

New faculty members joined each of the Smith Schools six academic departments:

In the last decade, the Smith School has attracted more than 100 new faculty members from the worlds premier research institutions. The latest Financial Times rankings place Smith No. 5 in the world for research, which is based on the number of faculty research articles published in worlds top academic journals.
