Nonprofit Consulting Program a “Win-Win” for Students & Nonprofits

This semester Center for Social Value Creation program Manager Pammi Bhullar connected the 17th cohort of student to high performing nonprofits for semester-long consulting projects through the ChangeTheWorld.org Nonprofit consulting program at the Robert H. Smith School of Business. This year, fifty UMD students, both graduate and Undergraduate, worked with eleven nonprofits on strategic consulting projects.

Project topics ranged from building earned revenue funding models to developing programs for 'at-risk' youth to creating new social enterprise models.   “CTW is a win-win situation.” said Faith Harrington, undergraduate Student Consultant for MINDDRIVE. “We are helping non-profits succeed while at the same time gaining valuable consulting and general business knowledge.”

Katelyn Victor, an MBA student consultant, felt similarly about her experience with WRAP. "The best thing about CTW is knowing that the work you are doing is actually making a difference for an organization that otherwise may not have the resources." Victor also had a lot of fun with the project and enjoyed getting to know her team members and the volunteers at WRAP.

Student applications for Spring, 2015 ChangeTheWorld.org projects open January 20th. All UMD students interested in working in consulting and with nonprofits are encouraged to apply!
