
A packed room gathered to celebrate the 32nd annual William D. Bradford Awards Banquet, hosted by the Smith School’s Black MBA Association and the Latin MBA Student Association and sponsored by SECU. The event, held on Feb. 28, honors William D. Bradford, former associate dean of academic affairs and the first African-American chair of the finance department.
Georgina Dodge, UMD vice president for Diversity and Inclusion, delivered a keynote address and a panel of four Smith alumni talked about their experiences in the fintech industry: Shalanda Armstrong, MBA ’12; Renard Brumfield, MBA ’22; Erick Loyo, MBA ’20; and Karolyn Maynard, MBA ’18.
The event also recognized current students making a difference at Smith. The Spirit of Excellence award recipients were Mehak Kapil, MBA ’26 and Daniel Alegbeleye, MBA ’26.
