Now in its third year, Smith’s Office of Experiential Learning (OEL) continues to build relationships with alumni and industry professionals to create meaningful experiences for students — in and out of the classroom.
OEL guests participate in classes as guest speakers or serve as judges in classroom coaching sessions. They also guide live cases, where students spend one to three weeks working in teams to solve a specific business challenge. Some partners sponsor semester-long capstone projects, where students act as consultant teams to solve real-world problems.
In the 2024-25 academic year, OEL facilitated:
- 177 classroom coaching sessions
- 26 live cases
- 60 classes with capstone projects
- 360 capstone projects completed
- 214 classrooms hosted some form of experiential learning
- 255 companies involved in experiential learning
