Class of 2019 Celebrates “Halfway to Graduation!”

A “Halfway to Graduation!” event celebrated the students of the Class of 2019 as they marked their last day as sophomores at the University of Maryland’s Robert H. Smith School of Business.

The students enjoyed “half treats,” such as chocolate/vanilla cookies and ice tea/lemonade mixed drinks during the afternoon event on May 11 in Van Munching Hall. As they proudly wore stickers commemorating their halfway achievement, the most common refrains uttered by the students were: “Hard to believe!” “How’d that happen?”  “It went by so quickly!”  “Hooray, only two more to go!”

The fun – and yummy – event was coordinated by the Office of Undergraduate Program with the support of Zachary Azrael, president of SUSA, and other upperclassmen who joined the festivities to congratulate the sophomores – and to encourage them to get involved and make the most of their remaining years at Smith.  Students who stopped by the Employers Desk also filled out “Thank You” postcards as part of the UMD’s “Thank a Teacher Week” effort. The dozens of cards will be delivered to faculty within the next few days.
