Lydia Gulley
President
lgulley@umd.edu
Lydia is a proud Marine Corps veteran, Master Barber, and originally from Pine Bluff, Arkansas. With a master’s in Sports Management, Lydia is passionate about how sports bring people together and build community. Her love for sports has shaped how she leads, connects with others, and pushes through challenges.
After COVID disrupted her career in sports, Lydia made a bold pivot and became a full-time entrepreneur — launching and growing her own barbering business. That experience not only showcased her ability to adapt but also deepened her passion for uplifting others through service and leadership. Despite spending the last four years in a different industry, her love for sports never faded — and it’s ultimately what brought her to the Smith School of Business to pursue her MBA.
As a full-time MBA candidate focused on marketing and entrepreneurship, Lydia is especially committed to elevating underrepresented voices and making space for others to thrive. She’s excited to bring her hustle, heart, and vision to BMBAA and continue building on the legacy of excellence and connection.
