UMD’s Smith School Joins White House Initiative for Women in Business

COLLEGE PARK, Md. (Aug. 5, 2015) — A delegate from the University of Maryland’s Robert H. Smith School of Business visited the White House today for meetings aligned with the school’s 50/50 by 2020 campaign launched in spring 2015.

EMBA Cohort 14 Students Graduate

On July 23, 2015, 37 executives from EMBA Cohort 14 graduated from the University of Maryland’s Robert H. Smith School of Business, in a ceremony attended by more than 300 family, friends, faculty and staff of the Smith School at the university’s Riggs Alumni Center. Dean Alex Triantis congratulated the cohort on their accomplishments.

Smith Alumni Enjoy Private Event at Maryland Science Center

On Saturday, June 6, 2015, alumni of the University of Maryland's Robert H. Smith School of Business enjoyed an exclusive evening event at the Maryland Science Center in Baltimore, Md. Alumni and their families were able to experience interactive stations without the typical crowds during normal operating hours. Attendees visited the many exhibits the Maryland Science Center has to offer, such as Dinosaur Mysteries, Newton’s Alley, Life Beyond Earth, and Power Up. Three planetarium shows were also shown focusing on space. Special thanks go out to the event host committee:

The University of Maryland’s Robert H. Smith School of Business community came together to celebrate the achievements of full-time MBA students at the 4th Annual MBA End-of-the-Year Banquet on May 14, 2015, held at the College Park Marriott Hotel and Conference Center.

Smith Commencement is May 21

Please join us to celebrate the accomplishments of more than 1,200 graduates from the University of Maryland’s Robert H. Smith School of Business on Thursday, May 21, 2015, at the Xfinity Center in College Park, Md. The campus-wide ceremony will take place at 10 a.m. (Tickets are required for the main campus ceremony.) Smith’s undergraduate ceremony will take place at 2:30 p.m. and the graduate ceremony will take place at 5:30 p.m. (No tickets are required for the Smith School ceremonies.)

CHIDS End of Semester Get-Together

Each year in May you can count on the sun shining, flowers blooming, finals and the annual CHIDS End of Semester Get-Together! CHIDS held its end of semester get-together on May 6th, to welcome new students and to say goodbye to outgoing students. At this gathering, students shared their research and CHIDS director, Professor Ritu Agarwal, recognized outstanding student and faculty achievements. She also discussed center goals for the coming year. This event marks the end of the semester before finals.
