Food trucks will visit the Robert H. Smith School of Business on May 7 and May 14 to serve a variety of lunch options to hungry students, faculty and staff. The participating food trucks vary by week and will include:

Children Explore Careers at Smith Event

Elementary schoolchildren grimaced and peered through their fingers when a biomedical engineer showed them excerpts from a laser surgery video. Then they sat up and oohed when the same speaker introduced them to a robot that allows doctors to treat patients remotely. Similar scenes played out in multiple classrooms May 1, 2015, during Career Day at the University of Maryland’s Robert H. Smith School of Business.

Smith Wins First Place at Duke MBA Games

Since 1989, Duke University’s Fuqua School of Business has hosted an annual weekend event for teams from top MBA programs across the country to take part in friendly competition alongside Special Olympics Athletes:  the Duke MBA Games.  This year, April 17-19 in Durham, NC, MBA students from the University of Maryland’s Robert H. Smith School of Business took home the first place prize for 2015.

1. Keep it simple. When it comes to headshots, less is definitely more. The focus should always be on YOU and your face, not any other part of the photo. 2. Be confident! Confidence and effort go a long way, and a great headshot can help you get noticed by employers. Once you have a professional headshot, be sure to feature it on LinkedIn, Twitter and your personal website.

Dean to Participate in 2015 Mba Charity Auction: April 2

It has become a beloved tradition in just two short years for the MBA program at the University of Maryland’s Robert H. Smith School of Business: the Charity Auction. Both students and professors contribute to the auction items – the most prized being dinners at the homes of Smith professors, which have traditionally seen good-natured but fierce bidding among students. This year, Dean Alex Triantis will be participating for the first time.
