First Cohort Graduates from Smith Online MBA Program
After 21 months of intense study, 16 students graduated from the first cohort of the Smith Online MBA program at the University of Maryland’s Robert H. Smith School of Business on Sept. 19, 2015, at a commencement ceremony held in College Park, Md. Prior to the graduation ceremony, students completed their closing residency with a capstone project that put all of their knowledge to the test in a highly competitive team-based online business simulation game.
Alumni Chapter Board Letter: Big Events, App and Networking

A leadership transition of the Smith Alumni Chapter Board (ACB) took place June 30 while the board was operating progressively and smoothly. Undergraduate Career Fair Fills Xfinity Center
More than 1,000 students, sporting professional attire with résumés in hand, met top employers Sept. 18, 2015, at the Smith Undergraduate Career Fair, the largest recruiting event at the University of Maryland’s Robert H. Smith School of Business.
Smith Senior BBQ
On Sept. 9, 2015, the undergraduate Class of 2016 gathered in the Van Munching Courtyard for the Third Annual “Feed the Terps” Senior BBQ, the first in a series of events designed to celebrate seniors at the University of Maryland’s Robert H. Smith School of Business. “The casual and community-oriented feel of the event definitely reflected the excitement and pride everyone has to finally be a Smith Senior,” said senior Liya Ai. “It’s fun to see so many familiar and friendly faces to celebrate the beginning of another great year.”
Smith Welcomes 450 Specialty Masters Students
This academic year, we welcomed approximately 450 new specialty masters students to the University of Maryland's Robert H. Smith School of Business. Incoming students will catch the attention of employers as they delve deep into specialized programs for accounting, finance, information systems, marketing analytics, and supply chain management.
Smith Freshmen Attend Day of Service
More than 70 freshmen in the College Park Scholars’ Business, Society & the Economy program (BSE) began their college life by completing a day of community service. On Friday, August 28, one day after having moved onto campus, the BSE students fanned out to several sites across Montgomery County dedicated to helping the homeless.
Freshmen Focus on Personal Brand at Smith Leadership Institute
The Smith School's nearly 500 incoming freshman started their college experience with a good breakfast, loud music, and a chorus of cheering on Saturday, August 29 at the Xfinity Center. The Smith Leadership Institute, sponsored by Ernst & Young, gives students the opportunity to get to know each other and become oriented to the culture and community at the University of Maryland’s Robert H. Smith School of Business.
Smith Welcomes 16 New PhD Students
Sixteen new PhD students are beginning their academic journey at the Smith School this fall. Hailing from all across the globe and from a variety of professional and academic backgrounds, these new PhDs will be researching alongside Smith's best and brightest minds.
