The EMBA program allowed me to combine my past experiences in the business world with theories and principles in a systematic way, and it provided answers and alternative thinkpaths to various challenges and issues that I have encountered–especially outside the sales and marketing arena.

When Sylvia Bugg, EMBA ’12, first applied for a job as an administrative assistant at PBS in the early 1990s, she was excited to join an organization that had supported and broadcast so much important content. “It was a dream,” she says, looking back. Today, she’s PBS’s chief programming executive and general manager of general audience programming, playing an integral role in the broadcaster’s mission.

Whether in the public sector or private sector, Ryan McCarthy, EMBA ’13, says, the fundamentals of leadership remain constant. McCarthy recently served as the 24th Secretary of the U.S. Army, the top civilian post in the largest U.S. military branch, and was previously in executive positions at Lockheed Martin.
