Former Smith School Dean Howard Frank Dies

Howard Frank, former dean at the University of Maryland’s Robert H. Smith School of Business, died on May 1, 2017, at age 75. He was Smith School dean from 1997 to 2008 and afterward served as a member of the faculty. Frank had an immense impact on the Smith School during a time of significant growth and change. He led the makeover of the school’s curriculum and research agenda, integrating studies in technology, entrepreneurship and globalization with the core business disciplines.

Smith Commencement is May 22

The ceremonies will take place at the Xfinity Center in College Park, Md. Prospective PT-MBA Students Attend Super Saturday

Applicants to the part-time MBA program at the University of Maryland’s Robert H. Smith School of Business were invited to visit Van Munching Hall, home of the Smith School, on Saturday, Feb. 11, 2017, as part of a new admissions event series: “Smith Super Saturdays.” Nearly 100 prospective PT-MBA students attended the event last weekend, which included networking sessions, workshops, panels, meet-and-greet with faculty, and interviews by current students and alumni.

Lisa Anders, an MBA graduate at the University of Maryland’s Robert H. Smith School of Business, led both projects and will discuss her experiences at a Black History Month celebration 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. Feb. 8, 2017, at the campus’ Riggs Alumni Center.
