Center for Global Business Kicks Off Academic Year With Global Open House

Santiago Luna, the coordinator for the Center for Global Business at the Robert H. Smith School of Business, University of Maryland, reports on the Global Open House held on September 10, 2019.

The Center for Global Business at the University of Maryland’s Robert H. Smith School of Business successfully hosted its fourth annual Global Open House on Tuesday, September 10. The center showcased all of the global opportunities available to students at the Smith School including study abroad programs, global internships, on-campus programs, scholarships, case competitions and more. The center’s team and students who participated in past study abroad or on-campus global programs offered information and advice on these opportunities to interested students.

Graduate students stop by their table to learn about the various opportunities available to them.

Undergraduate and graduate students visited the open house from Noon to 2 p.m. to discuss the opportunities available to them and to also hear about the experiences of Maryland Smith students who went abroad and participated in other experiences such as the undergraduate global fellows. The center held information sessions during the Global Open House for both spring semester exchange and faculty-led, short-term winter courses (available to undergraduate and graduate students), two opportunities currently open for enrollment.

Undergraduate students chat with former program participants about their experience abroad.

Interim Dean Ritu Argawal and Senior Associate Dean Michael Ball play a round of global trivia.

In addition to the programs, students, faculty, and staff tested their global knowledge to earn cool prizes while also learning more about business, culture, and languages with the center's global trivia wheel.
