Women Inspire 2021

For the tenth year, Women Inspire will showcase Maryland Smith’s fearless alumnae leaders excelling in business. This annual event will celebrate female empowerment that inspires attendees and challenges them to realize and reach their full potential.

The 2021 Women Inspire Honorees will be the following Maryland Smith alumnae:

Wendy Sanhai, PhD, EMBA '09

Consulting
Wendy R. Sanhai has extensive experience across a broad spectrum of issues in the pharmaceutical, biotech and medical device industries and regulatory science. Over the course of her career, she has held key leadership roles in academia, at federal research and regulatory organizations including the NIH, the Foundation for NIH (FNIH) and the FDA and, most recently, within private industry. In 2016 she joined Deloitte Consulting: Federal Strategy and Operations as a specialist leader. In this position, Sanhai combines unparalleled subject matter expertise and business acumen to address the needs of clients in the pharmaceutical, biomedical and medical device fields, and leverages her expertise along with Deloitte’s multidisciplinary teams of strategy and advisory consultants. Ali von Paris '12
CEO and founder of Route One Apparel

Ali von Paris is CEO and founder of Route One Apparel, the premier source for trendy and affordable Maryland pride apparel and accessories. The company began in 2010 when, while still an undergraduate at the University of Maryland, von Paris designed a t-shirt for her friends to commemorate the closing of a popular local bar. When demand for the t-shirts spread quickly through social media, von Paris began selling them online, and soon she had a budding business. For full bio, see the Women Inspire webpage.
