CIBER Awards 2017 PhD Research Award to Che-Wei Liu

The Center for International Business Education and Research (CIBER) at the University of Maryland is pleased to announce that Che-Wei Liu is the recipient of the 2017 CIBER PhD Research Award. CIBER supports PhD development as one of its four main pillars and the Center awarded Liu $4,000 to help fund his research.

Maryland Students Make Impact through Global Consulting Programs

From China to Rwanda and numerous places in between, students at the University of Maryland apply their classroom learning in real-world settings to provide valuable feedback to companies seeking to develop their global reach. Through experiential learning programs such as consulting projects offered by the Center for International Business Education and Research (CIBER) at the University of Maryland, undergraduate and graduate students from across the university and throughout the state came together in spring 2017 to consult for local and international businesses.

Congratulations to the Smith School’s Class of 2017

There was the usual pomp and circumstance, and quite a lot of excitement, as 1,200 students graduated from the University of Maryland’s Robert H. Smith School of Business on Monday at the Xfinity Center on the university’s College Park campus, May 22, 2017. Undergraduate Ceremony At the undergraduate ceremony, graduating senior Cecelia Cizek sang the National Anthem and Kelly Cosgriff delivered the student address.

Smith Doctoral Program Celebrates 50 Years

Doctoral students at the University of Maryland’s Robert H. Smith School of Business faced many unknowns in 1966, but they helped launch a top 10 PhD program that has placed faculty members at more than 200 academic institutions worldwide. “It was a risk to come here,” Smith School professor emeritus Burt Leete said during a golden anniversary celebration with faculty, staff, students and alumni on May 12, 2017. “But the results have been positive.”

The ceremonies will take place at the Xfinity Center in College Park, Md.
