Students, Recruiters take part in Annual Industry Day

On Friday, Oct. 10, 2014, the Robert H. Smith School of Business at the University of Maryland held its annual Supply Chain Industry Day, a three-part networking event for students in the supply chain management major. Industry Day hosted recruiters from many of the foremost companies within the supply chain field, including PepsiCo, DuPont USA, Danaher, Unilever, W.L. Gore, JB Hunt, Hilti, Avendra, Johnson & Johnson, Dominos, Target, JDA Software, PPG, Luxottica, The Home Depot, ABC Rental, CIA, McCormick, and Northrop Grumman.

$1M Grant Fuels Global Focus at UMD’s Smith School

Frank Auditorium was filled and attendees were on the edge of their seats on Sept. 30, 2014, at the BB&T Colloquium on Capitalism, Ethics and Leadership for a fascinating discussion about the moral psychology of economic life and strife. The event was sponsored by BB&T and hosted by the Center for Leadership, Innovation and Change (CLIC) at the University of Maryland’s Robert H. Smith School of Business.

BSE Students Participate in 19th Annual Service Day

Freshmen in the College Park Scholars’ Business Society & the Economy program (BSE) spent their first full day on campus helping those less fortunate. More than 80 BSE students spent the morning hours of Aug. 28 painting, cooking, landscaping, organizing and sorting, and/or serving a meal as part of the 19th Annual College Park Scholars Service Day.

The junior supply chain and marketing major is driving a forklift and doing warehousing at a local retailer while interning with the Baltimore Orioles, getting experience in both his areas of study.
