Smith School of Business undergraduate and PhD commencement on May 23, 2014, while MBA and other graduate students celebrate one day earlier in separate ceremonies. Hosting three commencements instead of one, the norm in previous years, will allow the school to shorten each ceremony and create a more intimate atmosphere for each group.

The University of Maryland's Robert H. Smith School of Business celebrated students in the Accounting Teaching Scholars (ATS) program at an annual reception and dinner on April 17, 2014. ATS is part of the Smith School’s Undergraduate Fellows Program.

For spring break (March 2014), 156 MBA and undergraduate students traveled to Brazil, England, France, Germany, the Netherlands, Nicaragua, and the United Arab Emirates for a variety of study abroad experiences offered by the Office of Global Initiatives at the University of Maryland's Robert H. Smith School of Business. Nearly 70 MBA students studied abroad in Europe and Latin America while nearly 90 undergraduates participated in courses in Europe, Latin America, and the Middle East. Smith Celebrates Its Seniors With First-Ever Pancake Night In the spirit of community and celebrating the Smith senior class, faculty and staff donned aprons and chef hats for the Inaugural Stacks on Smith Senior Pancake Night, Dec. 18, 2013.

Last semester, the school hosted the Smith Alumni & Family Open House to help the family navigate the college admission process.  Student ambassadors, young alumni and Undergraduate Studies Dean Victor Mullins hosted breakout sessions for alumni and their family members at the Oct. 12 event. 

Chase Kaczmarek doesn’t just use his longboard (a skateboard variant) to get around the University of Maryland’s campus. The senior management major’s longboard also provided the impetus for his startup.
